aNNUAL toy COLLECTION

One of Team Darkhorses’ big events is the annual holiday toy collection.  Donation boxes are sponsored by various organizations around the community.  The result is that all the children of 3/5 are guaranteed a special toy (or two!). The children always appreciate the annual holiday party, especially when they have a Marine parent who is far away on deployment during that special time of year.

Team Darkhorse continually receives essential assistance from several individuals or organizations.  Teresa Whittaker who works with 2/23 Marines in Los Alamitos puts together a very special “care package” for our Marines – a truck load of Toys for Tots toys dedicated to the children of Darkhorse Marines. Teresa Bonutto's brother, Nick, drives his flatbed truck to Los Al to pick up the toys. The Orange County Woodworkers Association donates elegantly crafted toys that are cherished by single Marines and parent as well as the children.

Retail vendors such as Starbucks help us provide gifts for the older children and single Marines.
